NLA 2019 Pre-Conference Workshop

Are you ready for the next step in your career as a Librarian? Whether you are seeking an internal promotion or career advancement opportunities outside of your current Library, your resume will be an important indicator of your ability to excel at the next level.

Program Description:

The U.S. Mission Nigeria in collaboration with Nigerian Library Association has scheduled a Pre-Conference Workshop for the 2019 NLA Conference to help you learn how to market your knowledge, skills and experiences as Librarian. This program is aimed at providing participants with simple Job Search Tips by focusing on Resume writing, Effective Job Application and Job Interview Techniques.

  • Resume (CV) for International Standard: During this interactive workshop you will discover the best way to show your most recent accomplishments with an updated resume (CV) for International Standard. You can bring a print copy of your resume so that you can make immediate changes while at the workshop.

  • Effective Job Application: This part of the workshop will help you learn the best way to develop an effective application, how to choose descriptive words like effective, consistent, determined and select appropriate achievements from past experience in your application, as well as demonstrate enthusiasm for the role you are applying for.
  •  

  • Mastering the Job Interview: The last part of the program will look at what to expect when interviewing at different types of libraries: academic, special, and public. Also, it will highlight the importance of research on the job, preparing questions for your interviewers, and following up after the interview.
