RIVERS NLA GETS NEW EXECUTIVES!
The Nigerian Library Association (NLA) Rivers State Chapter on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 held an election that ushered in new executives that will pioneer the general affairs of the association and take it to greater heights. The election which was well attended and keenly contested was held at the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Port Harcourt.

At the end of the voting exercise, a Lecturer with the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Port Harcourt and award winning library advocate, Dr (Mrs) Juliet Alex-Mecham emerged as the new Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the NLA. The other elected executives include Dr. Ogonu John Gibson, Vice- Chairman; Dr. Chidaka O Nyemezu, General Secretary; Miss. Ejuh Eberechi, Financial Secretary; Miss Chidinma Gloria Ubakanwa, Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Mrs. Nnenda Tom-George, Welfare Secretary.

The new Chairman, Dr (Mrs). Juliet Alex-Mecham promised to focus her tenure on issues of professionalism, accountability and transparency. in attendance, were some notable Elders of the association such as Prof. Blessing Ahiauzu, a former 1st National Vice Chairman of the NLA and current Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Rivers State University, and Mr. John Atata, the Polytechnic Librarian, Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Port Harcourt.
Earlier before the election exercise, the immediate past Executives led by Mr. Gozie Okede had paid a courtesy call on the Rector of the host Polytechnic, Dr. Samuel B. Kalagbor .
